   Memory Loss Disease

The Center for Bio-Behavioral Science is dedicated to the neuropsychological assessment and treatment of memory loss disease and disorders that impair memory, cognitive, and intellectual function in older adults, as well as to those disorders that impair attention and learning in young and middle aged adults. We diagnose and treat a variety of conditions that result in memory loss or impaired cognitive function.

Research in neuro-psychology has resulted in a greater understanding of cognitive processes and changes in brain function that occur with age. Unfortunately, few seniors are adequately evaluated for memory loss disease by primary care physicians. By the time the patient is diagnosed, the symptoms have already progressed and taken a significant toll on the natural intellectual ability.

We have the technology and knowledge of memory loss disease to detect degenerative conditions prior to the patient experiencing the full symptoms of dementia. We can differentiate between true cognitive dysfunction and memory loss that result as a side effect of many medications. Early detection is the key to preserving intellectual abilities and our neuropsychological assessment provides the detailed information needed for an accurate diagnosis.

An evaluation is performed in our office with a family member or caregiver present. The results of the assessment will be used to determine the appropriate treatment for memory loss disease. The treatments vary according to the needs of the individual patient. Some of the treatments used for memory loss disease include pharmacology, memory disorders therapy and other specialized therapies. Because memory loss disease takes an enormous toll on the primary caregiver, we offer caregiver support therapy groups.
